Well, the swarm is over and the queen has died. What are you doing now, friends?

Heading back to the boneyard to regroup? Staying at the queen's carcass to harvest meat and pearl things? Staying maybe to heal if you're banged up? Or maybe you're arguing with others over what to do.

Biological energy.

[Bioelectric? Probably. It's an incredibly useful point of energy, if it could be stored and maintained.

But that would mean finding more of these queens, if they're out there. Chances are they're not.]

Whatever you did triggered a chemical reaction enough to create not just light but a charge for your suit. Or whatever was in it, at least, was released when you broke it.

[Look at him, what a smart cookie.]

[A very smart cookie, though Jess isn't going to comment on it.]

I'm no scientist, but don't you usually need a charge cable for that?

[It seems strange that it was able to charge up the suit, that the energy was compatible.]

Where we're from? We do. But the suit has to sustain itself somehow.

[Hold on. If the suit wastes power when people use their abilities...]

The suit itself uses bioelectric currents. I hate to say it, but we might be the battery to the suit. It must be why the suit charged up again.

[It makes sense with what she's figured out and guessed at so far; the suits take power from them, which dulls her abilities. Food and water helps recharge, so that fits with using them as batteries.

Though there is another thought:]

You know much about solar energy?

[She's noticed the suits recharge faster during the day.]

Enough of it. You think that might have something to do with the suits?

[Because energy is energy. It's possible that any sort of heat fuels the suit, given that humans release energy in the form of heat.]

[Jess shrugs, not sure enough to commit to it, but:]

The charge goes up faster when the sun's out, and that was light, wasn't it?

[There was no heat, and she didn't feel any electrical energy.]

Light might be secondary power source, like solar energy. [He glances down at his suit. It doesn't really look overly sophisticated, certainly nowhere near his own mech suit, yet appearances could very well deceive.]

I think we may have found something to help us. It might need only natural light instead of something from a flashlight or a lightbulb.

If only we were stuck in a goddamn desert.

[She's being sarcastic, which isn't very helpful, but she's great like that sometimes.]

If only.

[Sarcasm is okay with Bruce.]

Makes you wonder if being out here is what helped us survive the pods in the first place.

I'm wondering a whole fucking lot of things.

[It's... mostly good natured, since it's hardly Bruce's fault they're stuck here with no clue about what's really going on.]

One thing at a time, Jessica. [He grins a little at her, charm and snark in full effect.] Some people might not like big thoughts and ideas.

[It earns a smile from Jess, though she still manages to look annoyed about it.]

If I'm the big ideas guy, you're all in trouble.

Can't be any worse than the trouble we're already in.

[Maybe??]

All we have is a giant bug and a suit. We might actually be on Survivor.

[There's laughter in that exclamation, if Bruce is listening closely.]

When do we get to the reward challenges? I'm ready for a burger and a beer.
