[ And suddenly, right behind her? Is this idiot. Yeah it might not be the wisest of options to go around spooking people in the middle of a dark, dank, creepy abandoned ship but...come on. A girl wandering off on her own? The opportunity to good to pass up? His legs finally working again? Inui was powerless to resist.

So here's hoping she doesn't choose to break his legs instead of them just turning numb from bug venom. ]

[ Fortunately for him, she doesn't jump easily, and also doesn't come from a planet with any concept of the word boo. Instead, she half-turns and gives him a withering look over her shoulder, head slightly tilted and eyebrows raised, contemptuous what do you think you're doing, you colossal idiot? so clear on her face that she doesn't even bother to say anything. ]

[ That...yup. That's a pretty clear as heck expression, but luckily Inui is used to it. No one likes him back home, why would here be any different? He's not exactly a likeable person.

But he stills grins and folds his hand behind his head a laughs. ]

You ruined the surprise by shouting.

[ Seriously, the punchline to sneaking up on someone is "stick a dagger in their side," not "shout nonsense." She puts him in her mental list of "idiots who seriously strain the working hypothesis that whoever brought us here assembled a team with relevant talents" and turns back to the problem of the buttons.

There's always a chance that pressing the buttons will release some sort of noxious gas, or blow up the wreck, or something of that nature. But she's fairly certain that the ship crashed during the same disaster that led to the pods deploying -- which means there probably wasn't time to booby-trap it or modify its original functions. And, in any case, they're all going to die if they have to stay on this planet too much longer. Short-term risks like pushing unidentifiable buttons are necessary for the long-term goal of surviving and leaving... although maybe she can dodge even the short-term risks by making this idiot do the potentially-dangerous button-pushing.

She shook her head as a sort of signal of conversational shift, and gestured at the chair and its array of controls. ]

Looks like...a bunch of buttons? Covered in dust.

[ Yeah looks like that mental list is pretty accurate so far. Inui literally has no skills useful at all to this entire experience. Thus far the only accomplishment he's had is finding out that the coral could be eaten, and that was after he'd rubbed it's gooey insides on Lance's face for fun.

So suffice to say? Inui is not the party member you would pick for Kharas exploration. ]

This has to be the ship's bridge, [ she continued, putting some excitement into her voice in an effort to convey that this was a big deal, and ideally get him excited about it as well. ] These are probably the controls for the whole vessel.

So...you think we might be able to do something with it? [ Well, she definitely sounds enthusiastic about it. That helps! And it's much better than the "are you an idiot" look she was giving him earlier. ]

It doesn't look like this place has a lot of power. Shouldn't we look for a space...breaker-panel, or something? To make it go? Maybe gets some lights on in here?

"Breaker panel"? [ It takes her a second to parse what he means, then she shakes her head. ] That sort of physical jumpstart should be by the engines and the hyperdrive, not on the bridge.

[ At least, she's pretty sure that's the case from her years with the Lost Tribe's fleet and on the Jade Shadow, but she's also spent the last few years piloting a bio-mechanical hybrid shaped like a giant red eye, so, ymmv. ]

...You know a lot of about spaceships huh? [ he notes, looking up at her with an interested sort of blink. He's yet to have anyone actually just blurt out that they know this sort of space tech. And he sure as heck wouldn't mind knowing more. ]

Of course. [ She already told Miles that she could pilot one, so it would be counterproductive to deny it. ] Piloting one without knowing how it works is just suicidal.

[ She leans back and puts up her hands, a disclaimer. ]

But I've never seen anything like this design before.

How'd you learn to do that?? Are you an astronaut or something? [ Because obviously he wouldn't know one by looking at them, what it human astronauts coming in all shapes and sizes. But if she really does know her stuff, well heck. That's lucky as hell for them. ]

[ "Astronaut"? She frowns, her brow furrowing -- this is another awkward term that she has to suss out from its component parts. ]

I've piloted and crewed ships, [ she says slowly, ] if that's what you mean.

[ ... but it really shouldn't be so exciting. The galaxy is filled with casual spacefarers. ]

In space right? Not just planes? [ Because that is an important distinction ]

Heck if I know. Aliens and being on other planets was totally not a thing before I woke up. It was impossible for people on Earth. [ He shrugs ]
