[open!]

Who: Ves ([personal profile] falsesmile) and general!
When: Day 6, afternoon
Where: The Ruined Hull
What: General exploration post!

[ The Ruined Hull has been unlocked! The go-team has been in the area for a while, the stay-team members who are so inclined have probably meandered over here somehow by now -- time to go exploring, but keep an eye on those suit power levels ♥ ]
bladebabysitter: (hey look it's elma)

Pre-adventure!

Sorry. I've only got the two left. But considering how I made them... we can probably get more here.

[Elma half-draws one of the weapons from its improvised holster. It's just wire wrapped around jagged steel, after all. But it had served her well enough.]

Are you worried we'll need them?

[Shepard nods, a bit relieved she's not the only one still semi-armed.]

Hope for the best, plan for the worst. Better to have them and not need them, right?

I think we've already established a need.

[Elma still considers the death of the Queen a necessity. Considering how far out of her way the xeno girl had gone to avoid her question about 'what happens when you aren't directly communicating any more'... well, the fight would have been inevitable at some point. And had they retreated, they wouldn't have found the ship.]

[Regrettable, but necessary.]

To be blunt? Unconsidered pacifism is going to get people killed.

[Shepard gave a soft snort.]

Ah, figured we'd be talking about that. Want a seat?

[Because she is still bitten up and not standing until this sharpening is done.]

Because violence without a good reason gets people killed, too.
bladebabysitter: (hey look it's elma)

[personal profile] bladebabysitter 2016-11-01 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
And is unnecessary and unethical. [Elma takes that seat, fluid and graceful like some large cat species.] This isn't changing the subject, but can I ask where you're from, and when?

Alright. Earth, originally. And the last time I remember, but I've been all over.

[All over the Milky Way, anyway. That people could travel beyond that safely is still making her brain roll.]

2186 CE.
bladebabysitter: (after everything now this?)

[personal profile] bladebabysitter 2016-11-01 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
[She'd been afraid of that answer. Elma rests her forearms on her knees, letting her hands stretch out in front of her.]

That's a difficult answer for me to understand, considering I saw Earth destroyed in 2054.

[personal profile] sheshotfirst 2016-11-01 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
And there are humans here that never took to space.

[Though that...Shepard's sharpening pauses as she considers that, despite her answer. Past in time, different parts of the universe, sure. But this...]

But destroyed is a new one.
bladebabysitter: (look i'm not a silent protagonist)

[personal profile] bladebabysitter 2016-11-01 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid so. I've been worried that we'll run into the ones responsible for it -- the Ganglion and the Ghosts. Both of them followed us to Mira... and Mira is remarkably like this world in many ways. It wouldn't surprise me to find either of them.

And that would be bad.

Don't suppose 'Reapers' means anything?

[It's a shot in the dark, but maybe, maybe there might still be some connection.

Maybe.]
bladebabysitter: (i don't believe this crap)

[personal profile] bladebabysitter 2016-11-02 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm going to assume you don't mean the Skell models. Just a hunch I have.

Are they working alone, or as part of a larger organization?

[personal profile] sheshotfirst 2016-11-03 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
That's a complicated answer, one that doesn't really matter. We're dealing with different histories.

Which is...a first.

[The tech did this people have?]
bladebabysitter: (unlike the rest of you i will now think)

[personal profile] bladebabysitter 2016-11-03 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
That may be true. But when humanity ended up on Mira... a lot of other xenos ended up there too. All of them drawn in, unable to leave, and many of them not entirely certain how they'd got there in the first place.

So I'm not willing to write off anyone's history as irrelevant yet. We might be just one group on this world, and if we are...

[personal profile] sheshotfirst 2016-11-03 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
If we are?

[There's many different ways a theory like that could go. The Earth being rebuilt and destroyed a few times over among them...but the Reapers allowing the same race to occur again wasn't likely. Didn't help their mission.]
bladebabysitter: (oh look it's telethia)

[personal profile] bladebabysitter 2016-11-04 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
If there are groups we know are untrustworthy, we need to be prepared as possible. One of the Ganglion servant races was the Definians, and they could manipulate perceptions to make themselves look like anyone they wanted. They're not much of a worry now, but a race like that could do a lot of harm if they infiltrated us.

I'm hoping they had a tell. If they can look like anyone, no telling if they're already here.

[Of course, all events had points of view. Wars in particular. Shepard wouldn't be declaring a good and evil side from other time periods or worlds just yet. But with any luck, she wouldn't need to at all.]

Like I said, they're not much of a threat any more. I was using them for the sake of the example. We can't trust anything until we know more... But on the other hand, we have to trust each other. Otherwise we have no hope.
