It's surprisingly intact for a ship that crashed into the desert.

[ But it sounded like Anakin had experience with these ships, like Clark. For a moment, he doesn't know what to make of that. Or whether he should introduce himself with his species. Hi, I'm Clark and I'm a Kryptonian which no one has ever heard of because they all died.

Awkward, to say the least. But Clark always feels he's on the cusp of discovery, meeting people where this is not an issue, like he's not branded by strangeness. ]

I think I know one. I was checking it out earlier and planned on heading back. It might be a database for the ship.

[ a friendly fellow stranded stranger? you know he could use some of that right now. the corner of his mouth quirks then he looks ruefully at their surroundings again ] It may not be intact enough for it to be useful. But...

[ trailing off, his hand runs along an un-rusted section of the hull in an almost fond gesture. after all, it wasn't the hull he minded, it was the poor shape it was in. ] Maybe if I had the right tools, more resources, time.

Thankfully, I can be a useful resource. Somehow my suit locked a translation component so some of the language becomes more comprehensible. Not enough to understand but enough that we can make some educated guesses.

[ His footsteps are steady. Nothing seems to be lead-lined, so finding his way around hasn't been a problem. ]

Are you familiar with these ships?

I have something for you to look at later then. But these ships? [ he shakes his head ] No, not these. I can't even tell what make they are. Usually, shipyards make their designs unique enough to be easily identifiable if you just pay close enough attention. This is nothing like anything I've come across.

[ he touches the logo on his suit, shares a look with clark and pointedly eyes the logo on clark's suit as well ]

I haven't seen these symbols either. Have you?

[ Clark shakes his head, unconsciously reaching out to touch the symbol. The "S", as people often misinterpret it makes him wonder if this is an "A" at all, or something else, some other meaning that currently eludes them. ]

They're not Kryptonian. None of our House symbols look like this one. And our ships are more . . . [ He halts, trying to find the right word. ] Fluid. They can change and adapt to a person's specifications.

[ he tilts his head slightly - never heard of kryptontian before, don't think he ever saw it in the archives either. though he was never a fan of archives, he misses its infinite resources and knowledge know more than ever. in any other situation, it would have been easy comm the temple for a pick up-- he really has to focus. ]

What do you mean... ? How does it change? What kind of material could even do that?

I mean it could change itself. Make things appear and disappear. With the right key — or AI, the ship could close and open doors, change locations in parts of the ship. . .

[ He stops because he didn't know what else Jor-El could do. ]

I don't know what else. I didn't have a lot to time to get to know how Kryptonian technology worked.

[ now that's a ship he would have liked to find after being stranded on a desert planet and finding out he has children, that he loses his children, and basically everything goes to shit in the near future. but all he can say for now is: ]

[ he didn't miss the way it was phrased. it's easy to empathize when he wish he had more time as well ]

What's your home planet like?

[ It's a question that surprises him and yet doesn't. No one has asked that of him before but then no one really knew and it's only in this strange alien world that Clark can even voice parts of himself that he had hidden away. ]

I think it was similar to Earth. Or maybe it was similar to this.

[ His fingers find the symbol was more. ] I can't say because I never knew my planet.

[ he looks both sympathetic and distant at the same time. a neat little trick that he learned from his masters, and emulates the best he can. he's not surprised; many on coruscant never even see daylight, nevermind the planet they hail from. ]

I'm sorry to hear that. If we find a star chart, maybe we can find it.

[ he peaks around the corner; a dead end, collapsed hallway he doesn't bother making a move towards. ]

[ Clark doesn't say, you won't find it. He's lost two homes very recently. Earth and Krypton seem beyond his reach and explaining that would just be pointless. His grief gnaws at him as he follows quietly after Anakin. ]

We should help these people first.

[ odd, he thought someone who missed their home planet would jump at the offer of finding a star chart and finding a way home.

he has a bad feeling about that but priorities. anakin leads them through a corridor, into an inconspicuous hallway and matching steel door. he place a hand on it then he approaches the panel that would have, to his knowledge, been where most power re-routes for doors would be. ]

Blast. It's sealed. And the power's dead.

[ Clark just pulls the door open.

Well.

Pulling is a generous word. Clark curls his fingers on the door, digging into the metal before he tugs it free from the hinges and sets it on the side. ]

Oh. [ anakin looks at clark, his face transforms from mild frustration to pleasant surprise. he grins and slaps on his exploring companion's shoulder. ]

Good job. I think I'll keep you.

[ it's awfully similar to what he would say to r2.

anakin steps into the room and he has to stop immediately. the room seems to sense its occupancy but it happens like a horror film - flickering light, scattered markings that could be a language comes across the broken screens. anakin spreads his arms and with no small amount of sarcasm: ]

Oh, look. Another broken room.

[ Smiling faintly, Clark takes it in his stride. Until he takes in the damage, the flickering of sorrow on his face before he pushes it back. ]

It must have been more than just a bad landing to reduce the ship to this state. This looks like the center for operations. It's possible we can find some information about what happened.

Looks like a gundark got loose in here. [ and thinking about those claw marks along the hull and the pods they came out of, that remark might not be too far from the truth.

anakin leans over one of the only unbroken screens, fingers ready poking and tapping quickly and eagerly for a response. there's a certain delay but it does, after a moment of what seems to him to be hesitation. he can only compare it to a sluggish AI and that just makes him want to smash it some more. instead, he beckons clark over. ]

You said you can pick out some of the language. What are our options?

[ Clark ambles over casually. The words blur before they start forming into words he can comprehend. ]

There's a warning here about hull damage. And Atlas detected.

There's a part about the power level. I think it was at a critical juncture but I'm not sure they're connected. Though it would make sense if they were.

Also the word "Kharas".

"Find the Atlas."

[ he remarks on the familiar words they were awaken with. he leans against the panel with both palms and in applying that action, the panel springs up a star chart. ]

Now this might be useful.

[ but his excitement falters ]

I don't recognize any of these.

[ Clark peers at it as well before shaking his head. He hadn't expected much, but he knew it was a long shot to begin with. ]

Is that so surprising? I doubt they would put us anywhere recognizable. I think they wanted us as far away from our homes as possible.

[ It's what his parents would have done. Had some catastrophe occurred? No one knew. ]

I don't recognize any of these. [ he swallows hard. his eyes scans the map again, hoping desperately for a familiar system to pop up. ]

This isn't just far from our homes. This is an entire different galaxy from mine. I had... [ his chest tightens, thinking about his master in the war and the others he left behind. his hand shakes, eyes wild and still on the map. ] I had hope this was in Wild Space.

[ Oh. Clark's gaze softens and he places a hand on Anakin's shoulder gently. ]

That doesn't mean you're that far away from home. It just means we need to find more answers and get a complete picture.

The Jedi do not have homes. We go where we're needed.

[ he says this more for himself. but remembers padme's suite, the temple and tatooine and the feeling of peace too well. picking his head up, he clench his fist to stop the shaking and nods. ]

Maybe there's something here that needs us.

Or someone. They probably didn't stay here too long.

[ There isn't much to take, so it feels like a reasonable assumption. Clark lets his hand drop, giving Anakin his personal space. ]
