You can't have it both ways. Most of the time.

[ Clark can't be of two worlds. He has to step fully into one or the other. As much as he'd like to reconcile the two, he doesn't know how. And he's lost his chance to. ]

I wish I could. It just sort of . . . happened.

So, it appears to be something that we can't control. But it's also something available to us to help us adapt. If we can figure out how to cross these factors to recreate it, we may be able to do more here.

Or the information available on this ship may be meaningless to the degree that only one of us needs the modification.

[That isn't what Lexa thinks, but there is always a benefit in considering the various angles. If she were in her throne looking down at everyone, she'd be considering these silently. Here, she has to voice her thoughts and beliefs, knowing the benefit of sharing.

The ability itself seems to be improving, though I doubt I can parse large amounts of text. I suppose we can try our hand at decoding it ourselves.

To figure out the patterns available. [It's a good idea.] I'm afraid I wouldn't be best at that, but I suspect there are others who may be more talented with it. [Her knowledge of cryptography is limited, unfortunately. Her people handle signals in other ways.]

[ Clark nods. It's certainly not his area of expertise and again, he despairs that the translations have fallen on him ]

Miles. [The name comes to her after a few beats of thought.] Though his knowledge is still slow to return to him. He may not be able to help, but he seems as if he would be eager to. [Elma comes to mind, too, but Lexa is wary of her. She has warmth and her concerns come from a good place, but they may mislead her responses to things. Until Lexa believes she can act with a balanced perspective, she would rather keep from relying on her.]

[ Miles? That was interesting. Clark absorbs that quietly. ]

Good. [Part of her strength as a leader was knowing who to send to deal with a problem. It's not always led to ... good things, but she has learned. Here, she figures she can figure out who can do what with time and attention.

She offers a nod to the data before the two of them.]
