Open to all!

Who: Inui ([personal profile] dateme) & ALL OF YOU
When: Day 3, eclipse/evening
Where: Boneyard
What: IT'S TIME FOR A POW-WOW aka we built a fire

[ So it's been a rough couple of days (literally, just two). But between nearly being blown up, marching through the desert, and generally just never wanting to see desert again, there is one good thing Inui (and Lance) have discovered: those Coral plants? Can be cracked open and eaten!

So as the sun vanishes behind the rocky formations or the moon(s), fellow interlopers might notice a distinct & nutty aroma wafting through the boneyard. Tracing it to it's source isn't hard though: Inui and Lance have started up a rather sizeable camp fire from the remains of some of the bones near the vague center of the massive grave. There they've cracked open large stalks from the coral and are roasting the mealy insides over the flames.

They've stockpiled quite a bit and have yet to cook all of it, so anyone and everyone is free to stop by and either help or take up a stalk of their own! Heck, maybe there's already people gathered there!

Whatever the case, it's a good way to kill some time, right? Maybe you've got a ghost story or a survival plan you want to share with the group? No really does anyone have a plan we could really use a plan ]

[ ooc; THIS POST IS OPEN TO EVERYONE AND EVERYONE! Feel free to make your own starters/sections, threadjack like crazy, and just generally get to mingling. The cooked Coral stalks taste like almonds and shouldn't be poisonous!.

HAVE FUN ]

[ Silence stretches out when Cayde's story ends. Lance's brows work, gently knitting together as he tries to parse what he's just been told, because it sounded awesome. He fails. ]

So, uh. I got like...half of that?

[ He got the gist of it, maybe. He manages a sheepish smile. ]

You were in trouble, basically.

I keep forgetting none of you are from the City.

[He was hoping for a rapt "and then what" but Lance's confusion kinda... killed the story. Cayde sighs and goes back to what he was doing before with the wires.]

But yeah, that's the gist of it.

[ He wants to encourage Cayde to keep going, but recognizes it's futile when the guy slumps back into his original pose, bending some wires into usable shape. ]

You know, this is like the third conversation I've had where nothing matches up. [ Even this dense kid has to get the hint eventually. ] Do you believe in alternate universes?
exorion: (ugh shut UP)

[He makes a distinct "UGH" at that question in a way that suggests he's had this conversation before. A lot. This sort of thing comes up when one of your major threats are time travelling robots who exist at all points in time. "Did you know--" no Ikora I didn't and I still don't.]

[But anyway the answer is yes]

Weird part is how they managed to drag so many folks here from all those different universes.

[ Having received an answer, Lancer resumes looking at the fire, mouth in a thin line. "How 'they' managed"--who's 'they', in this scenario? Isn't that the million-dollar question... ]

How is that even possible? Like, some kinda weird time-space wormhole?

[ Is that different from a regular wormhole??? ]
exorion: (why this)

[personal profile] exorion 2016-10-24 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably.

[Cayde pauses and taps a knife against his knuckles-- he's been thinking about trying to make something out of those bones, but the last time he grabbed one wrong it sparked in his hands and he doesn't know if he wants to deal with that.]

[Thinking about wormholes though. Cayde thinks about trying to coach the Guardian through all the Hive portals (god he can't believe he wishes Eris were here to explain that stuff) and looks at Lance.]

The Hive-- Real nasty guys. They have these portals, use 'em to get around and move between dimensions or... Something. I don't understand how all that stuff works, but it means that kinda thing's out there.

'The Hive', huh? [ He's starting to sense a theme, here. ] Let me guess—evil aliens hell-bent on destroying humanity and-slash-or all that's good in the universe? Kinda totalitarian, may or may not be led by a tyrannical ruler?

[ Is he getting warm... ]
exorion: (ugh shut UP)

Nailed it.

[Actually, he's 100% spot-on. Cayde tilts his head, obviously a little thrown.]

Got one too, huh?

This is like, the third time I've heard of a big evil alien empire, and I'm not even counting the one I get to deal with. And it's not like I've talked to everyone here.

[ Guess sci-fi writers are running out of material.

Lance shrugs, looking back into the fire. ]

Guess humans just can't catch a break.

[ It occurs to him, almost belatedly, that Cayde is a robot, and might not even consider himself a 'human' at all—bashfully, his eyes slide back, uncertain. ]
exorion: (eyyyy)

[personal profile] exorion 2016-11-08 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[Eh, no worries Lance. Cayde just laughs and shakes his head.]

Must be something real special about Earth if every other universe has that problem. [HM.] You guys have TV? Maybe that's it.

'Putting an end to human civilization' seems like a pretty extreme response to crappy reality TV.

[ Then again, knowing the kind of content humanity provides... ]
