Open to all!
Who: Inui (
dateme) & ALL OF YOU
When: Day 3, eclipse/evening
Where: Boneyard
What: IT'S TIME FOR A POW-WOW aka we built a fire
[ So it's been a rough couple of days (literally, just two). But between nearly being blown up, marching through the desert, and generally just never wanting to see desert again, there is one good thing Inui (and Lance) have discovered: those Coral plants? Can be cracked open and eaten!
So as the sun vanishes behind the rocky formationsor the moon(s), fellow interlopers might notice a distinct & nutty aroma wafting through the boneyard. Tracing it to it's source isn't hard though: Inui and Lance have started up a rather sizeable camp fire from the remains of some of the bones near the vague center of the massive grave. There they've cracked open large stalks from the coral and are roasting the mealy insides over the flames.
They've stockpiled quite a bit and have yet to cook all of it, so anyone and everyone is free to stop by and either help or take up a stalk of their own! Heck, maybe there's already people gathered there!
Whatever the case, it's a good way to kill some time, right? Maybe you've got a ghost story or a survival plan you want to share with the group? No really does anyone have a plan we could really use a plan ]
[ ooc; THIS POST IS OPEN TO EVERYONE AND EVERYONE! Feel free to make your own starters/sections, threadjack like crazy, and just generally get to mingling. The cooked Coral stalks taste like almonds and shouldn't be poisonous!.

Is this everyone? Listen. I think it's time we all stopped wandering around aimlessly and started acting like a group. Have we tried to get a headcount? Have we started any kind of documentation on the directions we've travelled? We don't have any long distance communications capability, so even if we split up, we can't look out for each other. We should be developing signs-- smoke signals, or rock patterns, to indicate things that are important. And making sure we all know each other.
Everyone go around and say your name. If you want, mention something you're good at, too. I'll go first.
I'm Ashla. I'm good at repairing tech and scrappy in a fight.
... Oooookay. Someone else's turn now! Orrrr else I'm going to look really stupid.
hops in here
And I'm Lance! Ace pilot [ a lie ], sharpshooter extraordinaire [ also a lie ] and galactic hero. [ Sort of not a lie. Sort of. ] Yeah, I know, I'm delighted to meet me, too.

[Why bother backing off without speaking her mind? Ashla's words are nothing if not motivating, and Lexa isn't someone who hands over her power easily. She recognizes that in this place, "power" is something that only exists in her mind. But she doesn't doubt her competency, and it feels important to point that out.]

[That doesn't stop him from being a bit snide when he asks,] So, Ashla, are you feeling better?
[But he really can't stay mad. He crouches next to her in the cooling sand and hands over his last water ration.] Here, you probably need this.

[She's looking a bit skeptical. Actually, the closer she leans in to examine the plants, the more suspicious they look.]
Has anyone tried it yet? [She's keeping an eye out for things like death or hallucinations. It's a very important job.]

[Shepard, brave space marine and all, breaks off a tiny piece to put on the inside of her lip for a moment, testing to see if there's a delayed effect from exposure before helping herself.
But seriously. Those coral things were Not Fun.]
( closed. )
Come here often? [ He's visibly pleased with himself for his 'cleverness', and extends a coral pod towards her, cracked open with the insides lightly seared. The smell of toasted nuts is strong. ] You should have some, it totally tastes like almonds.
[ It doesn't occur to him that Allura might not even know what an almond is. ]
no subject
She's glad for opportunity to ignore her hair for the moment, her features brightening up at the sight of Lance, though her eyes narrow at that line. She doesn't dignify it with a response, just takes the coral pod from him, peeling away the husk to take a bite. ]
This tastes like the rosberry on Altea.
[ She says it like she's surprised, never expected to taste anything like it again. ] It must be similar to your almond.

[He can't eat these dumb stupid plants, but the warmth is nice. Cayde's sitting near to it, fiddling absently with hunks of metal and wire to try and put together a solution for carrying all these makeshift knives other than "surprise his hands are full of knives".]
Reminds me of this time my ship crashed on Mars.
