Open to all!

Who: Inui ([personal profile] dateme) & ALL OF YOU
When: Day 3, eclipse/evening
Where: Boneyard
What: IT'S TIME FOR A POW-WOW aka we built a fire

[ So it's been a rough couple of days (literally, just two). But between nearly being blown up, marching through the desert, and generally just never wanting to see desert again, there is one good thing Inui (and Lance) have discovered: those Coral plants? Can be cracked open and eaten!

So as the sun vanishes behind the rocky formations or the moon(s), fellow interlopers might notice a distinct & nutty aroma wafting through the boneyard. Tracing it to it's source isn't hard though: Inui and Lance have started up a rather sizeable camp fire from the remains of some of the bones near the vague center of the massive grave. There they've cracked open large stalks from the coral and are roasting the mealy insides over the flames.

They've stockpiled quite a bit and have yet to cook all of it, so anyone and everyone is free to stop by and either help or take up a stalk of their own! Heck, maybe there's already people gathered there!

Whatever the case, it's a good way to kill some time, right? Maybe you've got a ghost story or a survival plan you want to share with the group? No really does anyone have a plan we could really use a plan ]

[ ooc; THIS POST IS OPEN TO EVERYONE AND EVERYONE! Feel free to make your own starters/sections, threadjack like crazy, and just generally get to mingling. The cooked Coral stalks taste like almonds and shouldn't be poisonous!.

HAVE FUN ]

[Jess isn't exactly a team player, nor is she the type to sit around for a kumbaya at a campfire, but she's.... figured something out and should probably share.]

If anyone gets it in their heads to take off the suit, don't.

[That's it, that's her very thorough warning.

Time to leave.]
sobriquette: (watch them pounce)

[personal profile] sobriquette 2016-10-21 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.

[Like, yes of course something happened, obviously she doesn't just magically know what happens when someone tries to take their suit off.]
sobriquette: (low on self esteem)

[personal profile] sobriquette 2016-10-21 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
I tried to take it off, it didn't go well. What needs explaining?

[If he wants a ten page report then he's out of luck. She figured her warning was pretty self-explanatory.]

Take it there's a reason other than indecent exposure?

[He'd guessed based on the power display, but someone's experience is better than his best guess.]

Yeah, not dying.

[She's used to working in very small circles of people who usually just take her word for things.]
exorion: (why this)

[personal profile] exorion 2016-10-21 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Good to know.

[Fingergun.]

I figured there was some kinda life support in here, what with all the humans and how this don't look like a real hospitable planet. [He looks at his wrist display — almost back at full power thank god — and frowns.] No helmets on these things though-- wish I knew how they worked.

There's no oxygen tank either, but it's keeping us breathing somehow.

[Which is her way of saying that she has no fucking clue, either.]

Can you describe at length what happened to you?

[Jessica strikes Lexa as a person who likes to be abrupt. She's met many men and women like that in her time, but they do require more information rather than less.]
sobriquette: (are you high enough without)

[personal profile] sobriquette 2016-10-24 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
[If nothing else, she can at least appreciate a direct question rather than Inui's vague one.]

There's no breathable air, do the math.

[Butttt she still doesn't see the point in describing the whole thing in detail. "Don't do it because you'll die" is enough in hr books.]
adamance: (and me. especially me)

[personal profile] adamance 2016-10-24 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
You've done the math in reverse, then? These suits are designed to keep us alive. Whoever provided it took great pains to ensure that.

[Even if they are literally relying on an unknown power source.]
sobriquette: (so there's no use crying about it)

[personal profile] sobriquette 2016-10-26 10:49 am (UTC)(link)
They took great pains to make us weak.

[Maybe not Lexa, someone without powers, but to Jess it sure doesn't feel like the suits are helping all that much.]

Huh.

[He can't eat these dumb stupid plants, but the warmth is nice. Cayde's sitting near to it, fiddling absently with hunks of metal and wire to try and put together a solution for carrying all these makeshift knives other than "surprise his hands are full of knives".]

[That's it that's the whole story.]

[ Lance is watching Cayde with pretty obvious wonder, a piece of coral flesh in his hands, lifted halfway to his mouth and stalled there. That guy's a robot! his mind supplies unhelpfully—his only experience with AI so far has been with the outright murderous kind, which obviously isn't Cayde's problem. He's equal parts anxious and fascinated, because unlike Galra drone fighters, Cayde is very clearly sentient. Pide, he thinks, would have a field day.

Eventually, he summons enough courage to scoot closer. ]

What happened on Mars?

[ It's funny; he's visited a whole bunch of solar systems by now...none of which have been his own. Visiting Mars sounds like a trip. ]
exorion: (so here's the plan)

[personal profile] exorion 2016-10-22 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's getting used to the weird looks, kinda figuring he's gonna have to field "holy shit a robot" conversations every other day now. At least Lance isn't asking the question, and Cayde makes an amused noise as he turns to address him.]

I was supposed to be getting intel on the Cabal, they wanted to know more about this Valus who was wrecking shop fighting with the Vex. Easy run, I've done hundreds like 'em: Get in, watch, send my observations back to the Tower. Maybe make off with something shiny if they've got anything.

[He's gesturing emphatically with one of those 'knives' as he talks, very animated like he's addressing an audience bigger than Lance.]

They must've pegged me as a Guardian, 'cause they shot me down right over the wastes. Got my Ghost yelling in my ear about how they took out the transmat, so I tell it to stand by for resurrection and climb out on the hull, hoping I can jump out before the ship crashes and I wake up to an army coming to see what all the ruckus is about.

[He leans back a little, suddenly very sedate now the action part of the story is over.]

Woke up in the desert an hour later. No ship, no sparrow, and no way to contact the Tower.
ceruleo: (071)

[personal profile] ceruleo 2016-10-22 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Silence stretches out when Cayde's story ends. Lance's brows work, gently knitting together as he tries to parse what he's just been told, because it sounded awesome. He fails. ]

So, uh. I got like...half of that?

[ He got the gist of it, maybe. He manages a sheepish smile. ]

You were in trouble, basically.

[Shepard has pulled up the nearest rock/bone fragment to take a seat on, her technologically advanced piece of sharpened metal spear in hand. Which she uses to start sketching out a crude map of the pod sight and their current location based on the very limited amount of information they have into the sand.

It takes about two seconds, guys. This isn't great.]

Anyone tried venturing out yet?
