Open to all!

Who: Inui ([personal profile] dateme) & ALL OF YOU
When: Day 3, eclipse/evening
Where: Boneyard
What: IT'S TIME FOR A POW-WOW aka we built a fire

[ So it's been a rough couple of days (literally, just two). But between nearly being blown up, marching through the desert, and generally just never wanting to see desert again, there is one good thing Inui (and Lance) have discovered: those Coral plants? Can be cracked open and eaten!

So as the sun vanishes behind the rocky formations or the moon(s), fellow interlopers might notice a distinct & nutty aroma wafting through the boneyard. Tracing it to it's source isn't hard though: Inui and Lance have started up a rather sizeable camp fire from the remains of some of the bones near the vague center of the massive grave. There they've cracked open large stalks from the coral and are roasting the mealy insides over the flames.

They've stockpiled quite a bit and have yet to cook all of it, so anyone and everyone is free to stop by and either help or take up a stalk of their own! Heck, maybe there's already people gathered there!

Whatever the case, it's a good way to kill some time, right? Maybe you've got a ghost story or a survival plan you want to share with the group? No really does anyone have a plan we could really use a plan ]

[ ooc; THIS POST IS OPEN TO EVERYONE AND EVERYONE! Feel free to make your own starters/sections, threadjack like crazy, and just generally get to mingling. The cooked Coral stalks taste like almonds and shouldn't be poisonous!.

HAVE FUN ]

[ He nods. Unlike Ahsoka, Lance's value to the Galra isn't intrinsic—without the Blue Lion, he may as well be any other useless civilian. He's never really had to hide anything about himself, he can only begin to imagine the weight of a secret like that. ]

I get it. Your secret's safe with me, Ashla.

[ The corner of his mouth curves up despite himself. It feels nice, being trusted. ]
resnipstance: fond smile (79)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-10-25 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
... Thank you. I appreciate it.

[ She bends down to pick up another piece of wayward bone. ]

Now you really do have to help me collect stuff, or it's going to look suspicious.

[ Instantly: ]

We could always tell 'em we were making out instead.

[ /ruins it ]
resnipstance: eye roll, oh brother (101)

[ LANCE WHY YOU GOTTA BE LIKE THIS ]

Ugh. Never mind. I'll pick them up myself.

[personal profile] ceruleo 2016-10-25 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, c'mon! That was funny!

[ No it wasn't. Still, Lance bends obediently, picking up more bones and scarce, dead plant matter. He can't help but think on what she'd told him, about the Empire, and the Force. There's a moment of silence between them before he starts again, more hesitant. ]

When you were unconscious, during the landslide...you talked in your sleep. [ He lowers his voice as he rises back up, at least somewhat aware of their voices carrying with nothing in this desert to block them. ] You called out for your Master. Were you like, in school or something?
resnipstance: neutral (28)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-10-25 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
... Oh.

[She blinks a moment, slow and unsure. Like she's processing that, and considering how to answer. Ever cautious.]

No... I mean, I suppose-- in a way? But not in the traditional sense. I was an apprentice. But I haven't been in classes or anything since I was fourteen, if that's what you mean.
ceruleo: (095)

[personal profile] ceruleo 2016-10-25 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
An apprentice...that sounds cool. [ The closest equivalent he has is Shiro, and that's a relatively new dynamic. They haven't known each other all that long, all things considered. ] How long have you been training?
resnipstance: shrug, unsure (08)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-10-25 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
[She has to pause and do a mental count. Then, with complete sincerity:]

Fourteen years.
ceruleo: (006)

[personal profile] ceruleo 2016-10-25 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
[ A blink. ]

You're...twenty-eight years old?!
resnipstance: wtf the fuck, surprise, skeptical, unsure (117)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-10-25 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
What?! No! Why would you think that?!
ceruleo: (009)

[personal profile] ceruleo 2016-10-25 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
You stopped being in classes when you were fourteen.... [ gesturing to the left ] and you've been training for fourteen years— [ gesturing to the right ] ....so?

[ Math: not Lance's strong suit. ]
resnipstance: skeptical, amused, fond, eyebrow raise (105)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-10-25 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Ohhhh. [A small chuckle of relief.]

Sorry. Small misunderstanding. I was sent to the Temple when I was three. Most Jedi begin around that age. We had classes every day, but it was still considered training.
ceruleo: (050)

[personal profile] ceruleo 2016-10-25 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Oh. Right, I totally figured that out. [ That makes her seventeen then, which makes a ton more sense. ] So, a 'Jedi' is someone who uses the... [ what was the word again??? right— ] ...Force?
resnipstance: neutral (59)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-10-25 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Yes and no. Being a Force-user is a prerequisite of being a Jedi, yes. But not all Force-users are Jedi.
ceruleo: (088)

[personal profile] ceruleo 2016-10-25 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, I don't think that could've been any more vague if you tried.
resnipstance: unsure, eyebrow raise (22)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-10-25 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
What? It makes sense to me.

Look, being a Jedi means something specific. It's not like-- being able to do mathematics. It's more like... being a mathematician. There are lots of people who can do maths who go on to other professions.
ceruleo: (046)

[personal profile] ceruleo 2016-10-25 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
So a Jedi is someone who masters the Force.
resnipstance: skeptical (60)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-10-25 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
That's right. Mostly, anyway. There are also... people who master the Force in a different way. We call them Sith. We're kind of-- diametrically opposed opposites, I guess you could say.
ceruleo: (087)

[personal profile] ceruleo 2016-10-25 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[ She makes it sound so benign. ] So what made you decide to become a 'Jedi' instead of a 'Sith'?
resnipstance: judging (179)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-10-26 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Being evil doesn't really appeal.
ceruleo: (038)

[personal profile] ceruleo 2016-10-26 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait. Are they "different" or "evil"?
resnipstance: unsure, worried frown (05)

Wow I did not get this notif thanks Obama

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-10-27 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
... I've never met a Sith that was good.

Let me put it this way. A Jedi uses the Force only ever to serve others-- never themselves. They dedicate their lives to maintaining order and justice. Their strength comes peace-- inner and outer. A Sith is the opposite of that. A Sith uses the Force to serve only their own needs. They grow stronger by feeding on chaos and hatred. Anger, pain, despair... all of those, too.

So, you tell me.
ceruleo: (052)

[personal profile] ceruleo 2016-10-27 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
...right. They sound fantastic.

[ He doesn't really get it though, not really. ]

Does it have to be one or the other?
resnipstance: serious, thoughtful, looking down (169)

[personal profile] resnipstance 2016-10-28 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
... It doesn't have to be, but that's usually how it ended up. Using the Force requires training and discipline. Lots of it. So Force-sensitive children who weren't sent to the Jedi Temple as younglings wouldn't be likely to ever gain mastery of it.
ceruleo: (125)

[personal profile] ceruleo 2016-10-28 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
But you said Sith do master it--just differently. [ He's genuinely curious, and a little confused, trying to piece together an image of her world in his mind. ] Is that the Temple where you trained?
