[ The Ruined Hull has been unlocked! The go-team has been in the area for a while, the stay-team members who are so inclined have probably meandered over here somehow by now -- time to go exploring, but keep an eye on those suit power levels ♥ ]

[ He sighs softly but he looks bemused. ]

You might as well keep it. I doubt it'll do much for me.

[ Well now he's curious. He pockets the fruit. ]

What, coffee doesn't do it for you?

[ Clark shrugs loosely. ]

It has a nice taste but it doesn't offer much else.

Really? What about booze?

[anewhope]

Beer is all right. I used to work in a lot of cheap bars.

[ He glances at Lance. ] My body metabolizes a lot of food and drink quickly. I enjoy it and I can certainly eat a lot or manage long periods without needing too much. It varies.

[ceruleo]

[ Cheap bars...he imagines the life Clark must've led, on the fringes, and the thought makes him vaguely upset all over again. Nobody deserves that, least of all someone so...good. ]

Whaaaat? I wish my body did that.

[ Drunk after one beer? Check. ]

[ He smiles despite himself. ]

Don't be so sure. That's part of the fun, isn't it? Drinking with friends.

[ceruleo]

[ A frown. ]

Please, I can't even imagine Shiro drinking. Pidge isn't even legal, and Keith's probably a super boring drunk.

[ Hunk though, Hunk is good people and totally worth drinking with. ]

Still. Maybe someday you could all share a drink together.

[ He can't picture it very well, but he's seen it at times. ]

It's not so much the drinking as it is the activity itself. Being around people.

[ Being around people--something Lance otherwise loves but hasn't had much opportunities for, lately.

And now he's missing his friends, badly. ]

Yeah, I guess so.

[ He straightens his shoulders a bit. ]

C'mon, let's go outside and check this thing out, right?

[ He shrugs, holding the samples easily in his hand. ]

I might let Bruce take a look at it.

[ Bruce did figure out how to use kryptonite creatively. ]

[ A blink. ]

Uh, which one's Bruce again?

[ They're a small group, but that doesn't mean Lance has gotten acquainted with all of them. ]

[ Clark hesitates long enough to be awkward. Clark knows the Batman and Bruce Wayne, but other people would not. And he isn't sure how Bruce is addressing that with the rest of the group. ]

He's slightly shorter than me. One of the older people here. Very . . . intense looking.

[ceruleo]

[ Lance purses his lips. He'd been kinda hoping for a description he could, you know, ID the guy with? Is he blonde? Eye colour? No...? OK. ]

'Intense' looking...how?

[anewhope]

[ This is hard. Clark is still on the fence when it comes to Bruce and has a hard time fully describing the man who plotted his murder in vivid detail. ]

I'm not sure how to explain it. And . . . I don't know him that well to say much else. You can't miss him though. He'll be the one who pushes himself to the extreme.

[ceruleo]

[ There's a long pause as Lance waits, expectantly, for more to come.

More doesn't come. ]

That's it? Clark, my man, what colour is his hair? His eyes? Anything...?

[anewhope]

[ Clark blinks before realizing what he had said. ]

Oh. Black hair . . . brown eyes.

[ceruleo]

[ Lance nods, still not sure he'd be able to pull Bruce out of a lineup, but then again, there are only, what twent-five of them? ]

Alright, so. Black hair, brown eyes, scary intense face, got it. [ He grins, mischievous. ] If I see anyone matching that description I'll tell him Clark said he was old!

[anewhope]

He is older than me.

[ At Lance's casual humor, Clark relaxes, losing the strange uncertain edge to his voice. ]

Honestly, he'd probably be surprised I mentioned him at all.

Why? Are you guys not...friends?

[anewhope]

We're complicated.

[ Which seems like a leadup to some torrid romance, but Clark finds it fits. ]

But I trust him to do what's right for the people here.

[ceruleo]

[ It does sound like the lead-up to some torrid romance. ]

Whoa! How 'complicated' are we talking? [ Like Facebook complicated??? ] Did you guys like...date?

[anewhope]

[ Clark chokes on air, unable to help himself. His expression is bemused though. ]

Complicated in the sense that he hated me.

[ceruleo]

[ Lance opens his mouth to respond, then it clicks shut. ]

Oh.

[ Well that's, uh. Lance's expression twists into more of a frown. ]

Because you aren't human? [ They've had this talk before, haven't they? ] Because he was afraid?

[anewhope]

[ Clark's eyes soften and he reaches out to touch Lance's shoulder, squeezing it. Clark doesn't do personal contact often. He is a restrained individual, but for Lance, he wants to show a little of his gratitude. ]

A lot of people were afraid. They have the right to be.
