Intro Log: The Forgotten City

GOOD MORNING NEW ARRIVALS This time for real! WAKEY WAKEY. As the storm finally peters out and characters can once again move above ground it becomes abundantly clear that the landscape has changed. Where vast expanses of sand dunes once laid is now the half-buried remnants of what looks like some sort of...city? Full of structures. It stretches so far it's really hard to tell. But there is one thing characters will notice: There are more stasis pods. Revealed by the sandstorm, a whole new flurry of pods can be found scattered on the way to the city (curiously though, not in it. Hurry and wake those guys up! SPREAD THE LOVE. OR ACID. With the departure of the storm there's even more new arrivals to be found besides those fellow travelers of yours! The "Seedlings" and "Cactus" are now both available, the former blown in by the storm and the former uncovered. The Seedlings are generally pretty harmless. They like to burrow into the sand so only their "Leaves" plant-like leaves remain above ground, and they're quite happy to stay that way until surprised. Then they pop up and trip over themselves a little, before slowing down and wandering aimlessly. When they find a patch of sand that looks comfy they begin burrowing back down. Pull or yank on their leaves though and you'll find yourself with a face full of pollen that makes you want to just tell everyone how super-cool they are. It lasts a while, and then you get a fever and vomit for two hours. Good times. The Cacti are much less harmless and just...why would you eat them? Everything about this plant is poisonous, and cracking it open causes a corrosive acid-like substance to spill out. It'll eat through everything but...dirt, oddly. Metals and flesh are like hot oil on plastic. DON'T GET LOST And last but not least: The Forgotten City. Maybe you want to check out the Hull first for some loot, but maybe that's not such a cool idea anymore? Although it looks like the ship's definitely more powered after draining the suits of whoever went in, now it's started to spread and fill the sinkhole the ship's in. Suits can go from 100% to 0% in just ten minutes--not good! Lucky for everyone else, it looks like finally there's some sort of civilization up ahead. Go on and check it out! OR DO. THAT'S OKAY TOO. Go nuts, have fun, and enjoy! (This is the wildcard option) OOC The Flora, Fauna & Resources page has been updated with information on the seedlings, cacti, and crystals! These items are now all available for Discovery, and The Forgotten City will be available indefinitely from now on! Characters can take this time to settle & build up a foundation for themselves, explore the area, and of course, harass those poor little seedlings. We encourage players to make their own open posts for this setting--you don't need to stick to just this intro log! But make sure to make our newbies feel welcome!

[Ahsoka watches Iron Bull foraging from her perch on top of the side-lying body of the queen, now dead and mostly hollowed out. She doesn't approach him at first-- rather, just watches him interact with others. She isn't shy, but Bull is the first non-human other than herself she's encountered here, and she's never seen his species before. Time was, she would run up to him and introduce herself, excited. But she her world now is a more cautious one. She has to be more circumspect with what she gives away about herself to others, more choosy in her friends.

Finally she peers over her ledge, making herself fully visible, and speaks up.]

If you're more after meat, we've got some stored from the queen. Most of it's been smoked by now, though.

[ He realizes he's being watched, oh, probably around about the time he goes off to let Clark rough him up some, but there are always a lot of eyes on him, so he doesn't peg quite where from until well after he's returned. Once he's worked it out, though, he doesn't do or say anything, or even try to get a better look at his audience, just keeps himself ready for an attack from that side and keeps doing what he's doing, taste and sniff testing all the plants.

So. He's not startled when she speaks, but he is kinda surprised when she reveals herself, all orange and little. What she says sure has him perking up, though. He straightens, looks up at her, lifting a hand to shield his good eye from the lowering sun.]

Hey. Any meat's better than this halla food.

What's halla?

[Ahsoka jumps down gracefully to save Bull from squinting up at her-- when she lands on both feet in front of him, it's even more apparent how tiny she is.]

Anyway, it's round this way. [She gestures and then keeps moving, not waiting to see if he's keeping up.] We're trying to ration it, though.

[ Right, now he can squint down at her instead. ]

Dalish-bred beasts. Horns and hooves, kind of skittish, eat grass.... no? Huh.

[ It's weird to him how different his knowledge base seems to be, though he never minds explaining. He follows her, humming softly at the word ration. ]

Hey, no problem. You're just giving it away, though? More sensible to make me trade for it.

Horns and hooves? I can think of tons creatures with one of those features, but not usually both...

[She shrugs.]

I don't really think you'd have anything I want. I'm pretty self-sufficient. You're welcome to try, though.

Oh, sure.

[ Spreading his hands. ]

You don't need a bodyguard? Someone to reach high shelves for ya? Or I can dig. Trap food. Throw you really high if you ever wanna see where we are!

[ That Iron Bull, he's a guy of many talents. ]

[Ahsoka looks him up and down then, hands on her hips, face lit with a cheeky smile.]

I can do all those things already. Though, I do need another sparring partner. It isn't often I get to train against someone as tall as you.

[ Squint. Bull holds up a hand like wait a goddamn second— ]

Okay, but you can't throw yourself really high.

[resnipstance]

[Chuckle.] Okay. True. But I can jump pretty high.

Huh.

[ How to ask if that's a different race thing without straight up— ]

Is that like a different race thing? You're all kinda springy?

[ Never mind. ]

Ah... no. It's an ability I was born with, but it's not specific to my people. Anyone can learn how to do it, if they have the aptitude.

It's okay. I don't have a problem with mages. Long as there's no demon crap.

It's not magic. Maybe some people call it that, but-- it's different!
